Lynne wanted something special done for this quilt that she made in honor of her friends' wedding. They live in France so it's dubbed the Parisian Wedding Quilt. The borders are piano key quilted, followed by an inner border of wide wishbones. The two lovely bird fabric rectangles are divided into large squares and have a bit of continuous curves in them. While the raw edge appliqued flowers have been quilted along the edges as well as interior petal lines. They are my favorites of the entire quilt. There's a mix of both hand guided quilting and quilting by computer, IntelliQuilter. Most of this is done by hand .. the piano keys, wishbones, loop-de-loop filler in the black background fabric, and a faux feather in the central floral tree print, and of course the applique flowers. The continuous curves and a geometric design in the small dark print border are done by IntelliQuilter. It's all very subtle because of the busy prints.
Raw-edge floral applique' before quilting
Raw-edge floral applique' after it has been quilted. This is before all the loose thread ends have been knotted and buried.
The backing is a pretty mix of more lovely purple fabrics.
It was a pleasure bringing this to life. What lucky friends to receive such a gift of love. Lynne, I'm sure your friends will be thrilled to receive this.
